Rare Confederate Script "I" button marked C S

I just got back from the Relic Rescue 3 day hunt in beautiful Culpeper Virginia and found my best ever Civil War relic. On the first day my hunting partners Mike Post of Woodland Detectors and Ken Whitley and I hunted a known Confederate camp. My very first good find was what I thought was just a Script "I" button but when I got back to the hotel that night and cleaned up a little bit I saw an "S" on the right side of the button and then realized it was the script button with the C S marking. A rare and hard to find button. Shortly after finding the button I then found a Confederate sword scabbard brass band with the ring. Another hard to find relic. I also found a few bullets and buttons and some unkown pieces.

Congrats Randy!! That's one rare bird for sure. I could tell you were excited from the email you sent from your phone when I asked for a hunt report from you guys. That relic alone was worth the trip. You would have to be very lucky to dig one of those in Tennessee. WTG, Quindy.

Glad you found something decent. I and everyone I talked with got spanked at that place. I even left 4 hours early on Sunday cuz I was tired of getting my butt kicked. For the most part that place has been hammered. Thought it was a rip off myself with the way it was pitched.

Yeah Quindy I am still on a pretty good high right now. There were a lot of very good finds on this hunt. I am glad I came home with one.

Thanks. Yes Mike was very good. He is really mastering that GPX as he dug a lot of buttons.

I don't think I have seen one as well. Several script buttons but I think this is the first one marked C S that I have seen.

I was thinking about RoFro and wondered what kind of magic he could do. He is very good.

Hey James. Thank you. I told Mike on the trip up there that I wanted to dig a CS button. I am going to have to tell him some more things that I would like to dig. Thanks for the BANNER vote.

Sorry you did not have much luck. I was using the MXT PRO and on that hot soil I was digging every iron target as they would often be bullets or buttons. I also was hunting very slow. I saw guys swinging like they were weed whacking. I did hunt some fields and found nothing as well. We spent most of our time in the one field where the Confederate camp was.

I am sure there will be more hunts there. There was a lot of fields still in crops that have not been hunted yet. This hunt was not as big as DIV but I did have a good time. And I saw a lot of very nice and rare finds as well. That Kearney Cross was found not too far from where I found my button.

Re: Rare Confederate Script "I" button marked C S

And there she is again. Great to see that button posted for all to see. Like the others said that is one rare extremely shy button to recover. A BANNER button to be exact. Any one who hunts CW relics knows these are high priority on their wish lists. You have my vote Randy. I had a great time meeting all those who attended, and I would do that hunt again. I will post my finds later this week. Take care buddy. Congrats on a fine recovery

    BANNER UP!
