Fine day w/ a couple Missouri guys
I recently spoke with a fellow Tnet member (Mike) about hitting a couple sites around our area.. Well, Saturday he called me and Sunday we decided to get out with his buddy, Roger (Abe ) These guys were kind enough to show me a spot they've been hunting the last several years and the finds were great! We stopped at a place of mine first and later one of their's- focused on one hill they refer to as "Sharp's Hill".... you'll see why I didn't shoot any pics out in the field, but snapped a couple at my place after the hunt. Thanks again fellas.. Lookin forward to researching a couple new spots this winter
- The bullets we were finding were a majority of .49 cal Sharps w/ three rings, a couple .44 cal w/ two rings, and three .44 cal multi-ring. I would have to think all of these are very scarce bullets.

Hey Jeff, thanks for the company, beers and bullet. Had a great time and hope we can do it again in the near future. You certainly showed us that Sharp's Hill still has a few nuggets left to find.
Everyone is right, Missouri is a great place to detect for civil war relics. This year I finally hit a few Confederate sites and came away with a few nice finds and hopefully in November we can hit them again. I still have a long bucket list of finds to cross off.
Hope to hit the ground with you again this fall Jeff.

Great assortment of uncommon bullets Jeff. Now you need to find a Missouri or Arkansas state seal button!

Nice old lead shooting there Boys ! I can't seem to get into an area with that quanity and quality of lead . I don't find many three ringers. I dig more random roundballs than 3 ringers . I never had a detector when I lived in MO. I only bottle dug back then . I know some places I would like to hunt now out that way . One in particular would be a good area to find a CW artillary artifact. The area recieved fire from ships on the Missouri river . Maybe someday ? Have fun out there ! M.R.

Re: Fine day w/ a couple Missouri guys
The site we believe was a large cavalry camp. I have found buck and ball, Sharps, Maynards, Minnies and round balls of various calibers there. It has been heavily hunted but as Jeff might attest, it is still a good place to detect. Abe found the major part of an epaulette late last year and I keep finding iron buckles of various sizes and the hill is littered with horse shoes. As Jeff has said, the general countryside is a great place to hunt for Union relics.
Not far from there, we hunt a major shooting range. Although heavily hunted before us, Abe hit a hole with 22 dropped 3 ring .58 Minnies over the summer and we have pulled over 100 drops from about a ten acre area.
I love this hobby, more like a calling really. It is just about perfect when you can also find good buddies to share the hunt with.
Thanks everyone for checking in and checking out Jeff's pics.
