Hand Forged Early Iron Chain

I found this awsome hand forged old iron chain buried approx 6 inches down at my late 18th early 19th century honey hole,no idea what it might have been used for,i cleaned it up a little bit and the links are still moveable after all these years.Great thing about this spot is the absolute lack of modern trash and many relics on the surface ie:pewter spoon bowls,indian head pennies from the 1860's on or near the surface,strap hinges and such all around.

It's harness chain. The swivel "D" is attached to the leather traces, then the chain attached to the "tree," which is attached to the wagon, farm implement. Note the chain hanging down at the tip of the horses tail.
