Three new gold dollars

I went out today for 3 hours and found three gold dollars in one hole and a 1970 10 pence. Total today was $8.66 in clad.

Why is everyone getting so excited about the gold dollar coins? they have the lightest gold plating i have ever seen,i had one in my wallet for 3 months,pulled it out one day an all the gold was worn off on both sides.my gold plated rca connectors have more gold on them then those coins.

as far as I know they are "Golden" dollars IN NAME ONLY. no gold at all . still nice finds tho. IF I'M GONNA FIND CLAD, may as well be a buck at a time? 8) CONGRATS Onionhead : The Composition : .770 copper / .120 zinc / .070 manganese and .040 nickel. ALTHO 22 K Gold Specimens were struck at West Point, in 1999 & dated 2000 W, I can't find IF they were sold, or givin to VIP's

I found my first dollar coin last week. I wish it had been a Silver
dollar....but now that I am Froze In I can't wait to get out

Yup, those 'gold dollars' are manganese brass. No gold. And in salt water they turn an ugly brown in minutes. Still, they clean up nice with salt/ vinegar and a good rub. And spend ok too.
