Decided to hunt a sledding hill near my house that I haven't hit much. Normally I ride my mountainbike Mondays after work, but with all the rain we had the trails would be muddy and it just tears them up, so the next-best thing was done (THing!!)
Right away I hit a BANGER of a nickle-foil signal and out popped this honker men's 14K band (which, incidentaly fits me perfectly)
Got some clad, a wheatie -'56, and then picked up a small white-gold class ring/year of '99 pendant thing.

Also, here a few pics of the rings and some other cool stuff I have found since I started this hobby in Feb. 2006. The ACE250 works very well, but I know a lot of success depends on perserverance, patience and going slow.

HH all!

Cool deal - the 14k band the one all the way on the right? Solid band? Guess you made the best choice of where to hunt. ;D

You make it seem like you can tell when you get a ring signal. I get foil/tabs/rings -it all sounds the same to me. Maybe it's just cause I don't dig that stuff much so I don't make any connections....

yeah Bob, it's the one in the closeup with the filename biggold. I just uploaded the pics in the wrong order.
Silver rings always sound like coins, but gold ones usually jump around between nickle-foil and coin. I dig them based upon sound while in pinpoint. Anything like a pulltab or canslaw tends to have a "fuzzy" target size, but a ring is a "sharp" small target that pinpoints the same from ANY sweep dircetion while in pinpoint.
Of course I dig plenty of junk to get the gold.
Mebbe you need to trade in that EXPII for an ACE. (I'll gladly trade you lol)

dude...I can only hope to someday be able to find coins of the type you find! I know that while cities were being populated and commerce was bustling and people were dropping coins in your part of the country, that much of Ohio where I live was still woodlands. I really wish I had a chance someday to work truly older areas, as they are few and far between in NE Ohio. Much of what IS older areas has been built over so often that finding old virgin ground has been difficult (but not impossible).
One thing I am on the lookout for is sidewalk tearouts in older cities near me. I think THAT is one way to old coins in un-detected ground in this area.

The Ace 250 has got to be the most awesome little detector ever made, especially for the money! I love mine...

Wow, Don't you just love the ACE 250, I really like the comments guys
make, that ACE 250 can't do what my $1200 machine can. YEAH RIGHT!!!
You know and I know, it's not the price of the detector, it's how you use
it and how you know your detector. Great finds, keep us posted and keep
those pics coming. You can view some of my finds this year with my
ACE 250 on this forum under ringfinder. Some of my more recent finds include
a 1852 3 cent piece, 2 1858 flying eagle pennies, a 6 pound cannonball, and
the list goes on.

Hey I only hope no one else buys this detector, then they will find out how
easy it is to use.

Ya know Ringfinder, I really am considering moving to a DFX or an Explorer XS,II or SE. I have already dug almost enough dough with the ACE to buy a used one. I'll keep the ACE of course for my son and as a backup, but there's no DOUBT they are better machines.
What I really want is more than three damn tones, and a numeric VDI. Multiple frequencies are proven to do a better job of identifying what's in the ground at depth than a single freq. VLF like the ACE.
I am NOT putting the ACE down BTW, in fact I just bought the large coil for mine. It has been a wonderful, lightweight machine. I just want MORE info from the unit!

I found that tiny quarter in a creekbed. It rang up as a dime on the ACE, and appears to be silver. There's nothing on the reverse.
