I had a spare hour this morning, so I decided to hit a local sand volleyball court. I had determined to dig everything that was not iron and found dozens of foil bits and a few coins. As I neared the end of the hunt with two more passes to go, I received a signal that was higher than a pulltab, but lower than a zinc cent. As I dug down about two inches I saw the glimmer of gold! The ring is marked 916 (which is 22K gold) and looks fairly old. The stone is a bit worn and scratched. I've been mainly hunting relics in recent years - so it has been a while since my last gold ring. Good luck out there!

That's a beautiful gold ring find artifacthunter! :o
The stone could affordably be relaced with a sapphire or a ruby!

It looks very similar to a ring that I found a couple of weeks ago! ;D

Nice score for a volley ball court (or anywhere else) I wonder if there is any way to find out where they hauled the sand in from?

Nice find, indeed. It does appear to be an older ring and probably came in with the imported sand (if sand was brought in). Your signal makes me wonder how many gold rings I have passed over, ???.
