This box was given to me by my Aunt over the past holiday, It belonged to my grandfather. Some very nice old bills dating back to the 1860s, 5 or 6 nice coppers, and some other foreign currency ive yet to research. Im looking to get some help on 2 of these coppers and anything else in here you guys might recognise. The NJ copper is A new addition to my collection, although, im not sure of its exact variation :icon_scratch: "narrow shield with sprig above planchet was my first guess?? but theres no markings just below the horses head ??? The other old worn copper with the head facing left is also a mystery :icon_scratch: I only have the redbook and another book of tokens and medals to go by and cant seem to find any variations on that either....so if anyone can :help: on those 2 coins that would be much appreciated. enjoy the pictures...the "time is money" hard times token was a very nice surprise to find, very crisp detail :headbang:

At least some of the currency is Japanese Occupation money from WWII. This money was when the Japs conquered the Philippines, and there is lots of it around. Far as I know it's not worth a whole lot.

Yeah some is, im not looking to sell any of it, but ill get it checked out anyway. my aunt told me she found them looking for xmas decorations and stuck them aside for me, says it was mostly old left over travel money passed down from him. but like everything we find, it has a few pleasant surprises.

While Chug was doing this post, I looked up some info on the box! Red :thumbsup:From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The H. Upmann logo
H. Upmann is a brand name of premium cigar, made in two versions: one produced on the island of Cuba for Habanos SA, the Cuban state-owned tobacco company, and the other produced in La Romana, Dominican Republic for the Franco-Spanish tobacco monopoly Altadis SA. Established in 1844, the H. Upmann brand is among the oldest in the cigar industry.

You have 2 Chinese 1 Cash coins, far right with square hole and the larger solid coin just to the left of it. The square holed one is in the 1850's-1870's range, while the solid is dated on the obverse. Both are quite common and probably only worth at most $2.00 each.
