I didn't find any coins today but I did find something very interesting... I don't know what it is so I will post it in the what is is section too. How ever another hunter did pull out another seated dime and 2 V nickels maybe one shielded...

What do you all think?

Hey thats a beautiful suspender clip! There's a guy on Ebay that always bids on them, I'm sure he would love that one. I wouldn't clean it. HH

Maybe it was used to secure the chin strap to the bonnet.
Looks like cloth stuck to the back.

I have one just like that, but it has nickel finish and a bird. Yeah, I could see it used for a bonnet, otherwise, it's too fragile. neat find.

here is is after cleaning... I think its brought out more flaws with the piece... I did buff it up to make it look better...

the back had an encrusted iron pin which crumbled when I tried to clean it... so all in all it turned out fairly good....

its is very thin and very light so its not gold... probably gold plate... it is old because of the young woman wearing a bonnet... you just don't see that much any more if at all... now as far as age... when were bonnets in fashion last? I know its been a while... reminds me of little house on the prairie times...

no markings... something "clipped" into the part below the young lady... any thoughts? it did have a pin backing...

ok I had a local expert look at this item and he said it was a female's version of a watch fob... and dates back to the late 1800's (1880-1900)

can anyone confirm this?

does anyone else have an example of this?

If so its the first one I have found.

It is a suspender buckle from around the turn of the century. I promise you. Different heads of women and animals were used around that period of time probably up until 1920. I'm sure no expert but have collected them for many years. Tennessee digger

I thought so too... but it is very thin too thin to hold up to the pressures of a suspender also there is no buckle hinge clamp type a thing... at the bottom there is a clip type feature and that don't fit with a suspender setup.

I'm not saying you are wrong I'm just making some observations... I'd like to see another example of one. if you have collected some post some pictures here please, I'd like to see yours.
