Looks good! Time to grab the big coil! I wonder a little about the age of the coins. It is a broad spread. And 50 metres is a lot. You need some more coins to get a exacter place to detect for the hoard. I wish You luck to getthe rest of them! :icon_thumleft:

I imagine it's pretty nice to find any silver Roman coin, but a small hoard of them is even better. Hopefully you have just hit the tip of the iceberg, and there is much more deeper down.

Hi Westfront.
I am sure they were not seen as coins, but rather at a store of silver.
They were surely ment to be made into brooches or other jewelry.
As to the spreading of the coins, this is quite normal where the fields have been ploughed for many years.
This can mean two things. 1) Small hoard lost on the place. 2) The top of a larger hoard situated deeper in the soil.
Only next years searches will show this.
The find will be reported to the museum, and they might even want to excavate the site, I don´t know that yet.

:icon_thumleft:

I hope that it is a bigger one sitting deep in the soil!

:hello:

Great find Dane :icon_thumleft: but I don't think you have a Hoard, more like a very busy Roman site :o maybe a Villa :dontknow: I say this because I to have found a field such as this.

Awesome discovery! The recent early coin spill I found here in southeast Virginia had a similar distribution. They were all lined up in a narrow band in the direction of plowing. I'm getting ready to go back armed with a GPX-50000 which I should get in a couple weeks and with the 18" coil I hope to pull out a few more deep ones. If you have access to a large coil you should try that too. Good luck!

Outstanding finds!I don't think the age span is too large for a small spill. In Roman times silver circulated for a long time and that Vespasian is well worn.

Fine hunting. In my opinion line pulled the plow, was probably a money bag. Congratulations and good coins. Future plowing XP Deus low frequency, bigger head. Ossi :icon_thumright:

Congratulations my friend!
The basis of your drawing with a big probability one ploughed we may talk about a coins depo.
The next ploughing or a bigger one will be promising with a searc coil anyway it is necessary to research it keep moving.
The denars are very fine!

Hey bro!
The Vespasian is very rare! Judean mint.
