My most productive colonial corn field ever and a 1700's silver first for me.

Me and a buddy have been working a local corn field the last couple weeks. Not sure if there was a house here at one time or not but it sure has been productive that's for sure.
I have pulled 14 coppers lots of buttons and my very first reale. It's a 1750 Mexican mint pillars 1/4 reale, and yes I did the happy dance! The coppers where 3 KG's, 1Hibernia, 5 Drapped Bust Cents and 5 Drapped Bust half cents. My buddy pulled lots of coppers and a seated half dime. Wish they could all be like this!

Isn't it amazing when you hunt large areas like that and you come across something SOOO small? Great save!

Excellent post I really like the reale !!Is it about the size of a dime or smaller?

You know it's funny. When I left the house that morning I said to my wife "I'm going to go find some Spanish silver". Couldn't believe it actually happened!

It's smaller than a dime. It is funny how you come up with something so small like the previous poster stated. This field is pretty large. My guess is it was around some farmers neck. maybe 1750 was a birth date or something of a family member? The holes in these coins are so small they must of had thread through them to make necklaces.
