Today I figured I;d give the old farm site a rest and let the owners have a little peace and not have to bear listening to my detector beeping all day, don;t wanna wear out my welcome. Will hit it again later in the week and the rest of the fall. Went next door to my neighbors house, which happens to be the oldest house on the island here, built in the late 1600's. It has been hit hard, for obvious reasons, but I ahve managed to get some good stuff out of it..a artillery pin and a 2 cent piece. Lot of trash there, particulary old shotgun shell butts, I dug up about 50 of them today. I did find the pendant and brooch below along with a 1908 Indian Head and a couple of wheaties, 1912 and 1917, so a pretty good day. The pendant is gold in color but due to the bluish corrosion on it, I would say it is brass. The stone is semi-transparent and purplish in color (not sure what it is). The brooch is silverish in color but don;t think it is silver for it has no markings or hallmarks on it. Any ideas on what they are and age?
