"Grabbing Black Glass before the Blood-Sucking Leaches get ya"

Good Morning all, The second day of my long-weekend and its going to get real hot later. Starting to get humid too and thunderstorm tomorrow. No point trying to hunt and dig the hard ground in these conditions.I remembered the local swamp had a huge washout during the heavy rain we had in the spring. Most rain ever recorded in this area. Like most water ways in any location a great place to throw your empty bottles. Being creatures of habit, and theres was plenty of oldies to be had. Gold miners work hard . drank hard. Sound like me LoL Anyway i headed over to the swamp and went for a walk. With the full heat of the summer the swamp level is dropping quite quickly. Spotted a few modern brown glass and then a black glass. picked up and washed out the muck. No problem.
Walked down to shallow end where the vegitation gows in the water i spotted another. My hand was in the water no much more than a second. I noticed a sudden movement of black shapes coming in my direction. Just like 'Jaws', No music or sharp teeth just a pack of blood sucking leaches. "Quick" by the time i had the bottle out of the water some had all ready attached themselves to the glass. Flicked them of the glass with a stick. Yet i am kind of lucky as there is a very deadly bad tempered snake that lives in this swamp. Most deadly snakes usualy just go away but not the Tigersnake. Highly territorial and will even swim across a river to guard its claim. They don,t like the heat of the day and hunt at night. Still want to look where you put your feet when walking in the under growth.Heres a few pics of the black glass and my new freinds who invited themselves for lunch. i hope you let someone know where you're at. you don't want to get bit by a tiger snake and nobody knows where you're at. Be safe.

Them leaches make good fish bait. My Grandpa always said "Look out snakes,here I come or next time I'll bring a gun". Always worked for him. Good luck.

Wow! Those bottles are nice! I'd brave the snakes and the leaches to get those also.

You get bit by a TigerSnake and it will not matter if they know where you are at or not.

Sounds just like the place I grew up at. A big swamp ! And man do I miss it , I should be back home in the swamp in just a week or so.

The back bottles are in great shape! As the leeches, there mustn't be many arm blood animals running around on the water, they look very hungry!! Hahaha

Tinpan that first black bottle is a beaut - what would have been in it - local ale / spirits? That last post about all the drunken miners fighting and queing at the watering hole was classic, those leaches are huge, up here they start off tiny, jump onto your foot, start sucking and blow up - I find salt is best should one latch on and get a little start on me.
And never fear everyone it is not the leaches, tigersnakes, spiders, ticks or serial killers that Tinpan need worry about - it is the drunks driving home after a swill that he should fear - as I do - happy and safe hunting mate

Nice bottles! I think I can see three piece mold lines in the first picture and I think the second bottle is a case gin. I don't like the sounds of that territorial snake! Even our worst snakes here in Pennsylvania won't chase you. Sometimes they won't move when your walking but for the most part they want to get out of your way.
