Wow! I had to pick my jaw up from off my key board! With finds like that...I think I would be in the field every single day !!! I hope you make the banner for that one and I hope you find plenty more 'Keepers' just like that!!!
    Keep it Up!!!

I have no question believing that is the absolute truth. Finding old stuff is obviously easier to do in the UK, but you certainly don't see many posting this quality, and as often. Even people who live on this side of the pond often think just because you live in an old area it comes easy, but that's not always, and sometimes not at all.
I used the same words with Dad yesterday; 'I'm making this look easy'.....& we laughed.....

It was easy yesterday when I wandered over 3 different fields of about 80-100 acres & just happened to walk over the right spot. That kind of luck is kind of easy but we never found any good signs in any of those fields, even next to a field that was full of Roman Coins & objects. We were 'hoping' for a gold from this land because we had found 1 silver Celtic & a couple of Bronze, but this Gold was fields away from the other stuff
For the most part you touched on why it happens; time spent in the field & number of nails/trash removed. I have too much energy & I waste it on digging lots of holes quickly

Nice coin. I guess that field requires a more scrutinizing!

One more thing, if you keep getting banner nominations it will take a full minute to get past your entries because your avatar will be about a foot long. Cheers and keep at it.
Correct, singles do not count as potential Treasure

On the scrutinizing point - It is natural to think that but in this case its most likely the only Celtic find in the whole field. Remember the last one I got in January, we covered the whole of the 15 Acres & it was the only Celtic object in the field. If they are not associated with a 'site' which we already 'feel' it isn't then its hard to explain how a random loss got there, other than it may have been placed ritually in a field for good harvest but no real signs of that either.

We will continue exploring the 4 option fields we have available, & try & work out where to spend our gridding efforts, at this point there is no decision made.
