Got out at another new site yesterday that my friend Dan had gotten permission for. It was just a small field and our initial assessment after walking the site was that the finds were going to be primarily limited to one small section. So we hunkered down and spent most of the day there only to be forced to cut the day a little short when a fierce snow squall blew through late in the afternoon. Dan made the find of the day with a beautiful early concave VA button (Albert's VA1). I'm showing a pic below that I took in the field right after he dug it. Killer button for sure. I finally came through late in the day with an early 1700s cut piece. I also recovered a cool 1882 seated dime that had been made into a love token. That was my 2nd love token ever, with the first being my only gold coin dug almost 15 years ago. I was also able to recover a nice shield nickel, a very worn flying eagle cent, a marine cuff button along with a fancy colonial one, and a few other misc relics. We plan to return soon and work some of the heavy iron areas with small coils as we know there are still coins and relics hiding there.

Nice assortment there Bill. Beautiful love token.

Cut Spanish is always nice, but for you it's pretty common :laughing7:

I take it there is nothing on the cufflink? It almost looks silver in the picture.

wow, tell your friend congratz- that VA1 looks to be in awesome shape (its the VA1B, same as the one I dug).. I ended up selling mine, listed it on ebay at $499 buy it now and it was gone in less than a day.

congrats on the cut piece, love token, and marine cuff etc.. I have never dug a love token, would love to find a personalized coin

Your cut silver is great Bill but your buddies Virginia button is awesome. Is he going to clean it? I'd be scared I'd ruin it :dontknow:

Jeff - I don't believe it registered very high when I found it so doubt its silver, but I may need to recheck. The front was blank, unfortunately.

That's a great love token. I'd be inclined to dip it or otherwise gently clean it up and put it on a chain. It can still be a love token for someone and not very many people will have one like it. Nice find.

Dan found a nice one, I remember when Jeff pulled one out that was in great shape at an old site we were digging. In my opinion, its the best looking of all the Virginia's and one of the most valuable. Congrats Bill and I look forward to seeing what else y'all find; say hi to Dan for me buddy.
