Hello All,

These were also found in my family's back yard along with the buckle/plate. The first is a flat button with an eagle on the reverse. I don't think it's military but any info would be appreciated. I also dug what I believe to be a hand guard from a sword or bayonet yesterday. This home is surrounded by Antebellum mansions and has civil war history itself. The house was built by William R Ritchie who was stationed in this area during the civil war and returned after to retire. Several years ago I found a nicely gilded NY staff cuff button which coincidentally he was from the NY State Infantry. Might have been his? This is my third post as a new member. I AM HOOKED. GREAT GROUP OF MEMBERS WITH AN AMAZING AMMOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE.
HH,
