So I found this yesterday on an old estate along with a few other things.....I believe that its a Draped Busted cent (1796-1807). As you can see it is very well worn out. I cleaned it with olive oil a bit. I am seeking advise/ technique that may bring out more detail. I am thinking just leaving it alone and excepting that it's too far gone to get a date etc. Will further molestation destroy what little is there?

Personally I think it is awesome just the way it is. I know someone would be able to tell ya otherwise but if it were me I would chuck it up as a (personal fav) and stash it back in the box for another couple hundered years.

Thanks...I was super thrilled to be able to get a date range out of it. I am hoping to get a good picture of the reverse soon. The property owner invited me back today, and I only found 1 lg decorative button which I gave to his daughter. He wants me to come back and keep looking. :hello2:

Finding something like that gives you the drive to keep on going. It's a great find in my book and I would love to find one! Congrats.
