Today had a smashed brass wedding band. And a pocket watch back. And an old iron-ax head that seems to be a bit larger than todays standard size. And a green crusty plow beaten Indian head penny. The more interesting item was a small buckle. It was a bit bent up but later on at home I worked on straightening it up. During that process the center-bar broke loose on one end. So I decided to try and solder it back together. On scraping the metal the color is a bit puzzling as it seems to be silver colored vs the yellow of brass that I was expecting. See picture one for scratched area. Am a bit puzzled as to what material the buckle is made of. Any ideas? Did manage to get the bar back to looking nicely mated and soldered together, see picture two. Any ideas on the time period this item?
