    Double Sliver

Went back to this old house that I have hit a few times and had My best day yet I started where I left off last time , I was working a area that had a lot of coins in about a 10 foot area. Most coins were clad and I was getting kind of bored digging clad, I had almost cleaned up all the clad when I got a iffy signal but dug it any way, out pops a nice sliver coin. I could tell with all the dirt on it it was a Barber Quarter but couldn't see the date. That made my day and I started digging everything, after about 6 keys I found a old pocket knife and some junk. A few minutes later got a good signal it turn out to be a parking tag from 1910 i think. After some more clad and another pocket knife I moved to a spot that I had pounded and had found a few IH penny and a barber Half. I was there a few minutes when I found a sliver head pin I think, then another iffy signal that turned out to be another sliver Quarter but I couldn't tell much about it with all the dirt caked to it. After getting home and running everything under some water I ended with a 1898 Barber Quarter and a 1952 Quarter, it was a good day. In the junk I found I had some shell casing that I have never seen before they are about the size of a 9mm casing but are rim fire, I have no Idea what they went to thought 22 were the only rim fire shells.

Cool finds. Your rimfire cases look to me like a 38 short and 38 long. Rimfire cartridges came in 22, 25, 32, 38, 41 and 44 calibers and were popular in many " boy's rifles". Most rimfire ammo other than 22 cal. were discontinued after WW 2.
