I've never heard of someone finding a seated or a trade dollar. Congratulations. Please tell us a little more. Did you find it in the turf, an old home site, or somewhere else?

There are plenty of fakes of this particular coin floating around. Where did you find this one? Not saying yours is a fake, just wondering the circumstances. Great find!

I found edge up at an old ball park. It was about 10 inches down-faint signal. Man finding this one has made my month. I can't tell how big the smile is I'm wearing. I thought at first it was a half but then I realized this thing has a woman sitting on it....Holy Sh**. Hey bartender drinks all around. Happy Hunting!

That's a nice find.

Trade Dollars were made for export to China whose merchants preferred being paid in silver, preferably Mexican silver coins. The design of the eagle is actually modeled on the reverse of the Mexican silver dollar. Since most of these ended up in China, modern Chinese counterfeiters sell loads of fakes to collectors saying that they are real examples that have been in China all along.
Therefore, if you ever want to sell it you'll probably need to get it authenticated first. Personally, I would never buy a Trade Dollar that hasn't been authenticated by a third party.
Here a really interesting article about Chinese counterfeiting operations: Chinese Coin Counterfeting Ring Makes Fake Silver Coins - Fake US Coins & Fake Crowns
