What a nasty day it was in Mebane North Carolina! I went back to my new detecting site and found some amazing finds. My first find was a pair of brass knuckles that is actually cast in lead. They are very old. I found some miscellaneous brass and lead pieces. Towards the middle of my hunt I found a small possibly shoe buckle made of brass. 1 of the pieces of brass is bent over 90 degrees and it looks like it was used as a scraper. Then I dug what I thought at first was a flat button, but upon closer examination it looks to be a US half cent. There is a square nail hole right in the center 
and no detail at all. Close to dark I got a pull tab bottle cap signal that pinpointed very small and shallow. I dug the plug out of the ground and busted it up and started pinpointing. I could of never prepared myself for what I saw next! At first it looked like just a black flat button, but is soon as I picked it up I saw 3 roman numeral "I's" on a very clean black coin! I called my friend Froto over and we both celebrated the digging of my first silver 3 cent piece! it is in phenomenal condition with the exception to the small clip of the coin's top right. I even made a video. Is on youtube or you can click the link below. when I got home I looked at the trime and discovered that it was AN 1858! It turns out 1858 was a low mintage year with only 1,600,000 made! Some other good news is that it is the 90% silver variety! Please look at my pictures and my video below thank you for viewing!
I'D help needed with bottom brass item. It is definitely old, just look at the flat head screws! It is thick and has milled holes all in it. It is thick and heavy. What is it!
Update: I thought something looked familiar on that mystery brass item. I was looking through my box of finds and found what I believed to be an old clock part when I dug it. I held the two pieces up beside one another and they were nearly identical! I believe what I found is an old clock backing plate?
