Rutherford B. Hayes President token

Found this today here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at a house
dating back to 1889. When I dug it up I wiped it off enough
to see a date and read 1877 and thought I had a real old coin.
Did a search here and found it was only a token. Still very cool!!
Not sure what the value, monetarily or historically it holds.
Maybe someone could fill me in on this token or tokens like
this in general.
Thanks:)
Randy

Randy....I found one just like that last week but it was of Herbert Hoover...I posted it on the What is it page....closest answer I got was that it may be a token issued by Shell gas stations...newer than 1940.....no clue as to the value etc...thats the best I can do for you. Cool token regardless of the age or value....congrats!!!

Thanks MD:)
Ya, I thought it was pretty cool too. Found my first indian head penny today in
the same yard. Also a mercury dime and a whole bunch of wheat pennys. Started
this hobby in August so this was like the best day I've ever had. Also found about
a dozen play money coins that I'll have to post on here to see what they are.
Keep a digging,
Randy

Randy....Congrats on your first IH and mercury dime...you;ll be glad you got into this hobby...it can be very fulfilling and rewarding, it can also drive you nuts...:) For future reference....when taking a pic of a coin....don;t use alligator clips to hold it, especially the silver ones, for you can scratch and/or mar the coin and ruin the value of it. Again, welcome to the forum and the hobby, look forward to many more posts of your finds on here.
