The team is back on full steam with Cru'Dad & I doing a 5 hour hunt in nice weather with only the odd light shower. We covered a large area, in fact nearly the remainder of the site. (also includes a couple of finds from Cru'dad's hunt the other day)

Added another 18 Roman Coins to the total - 1 Album type.
3 Jettons
2 Rose Farthings
17th C Half Penny Token (circa 1660) of the Fluer-de-lue Tavern in Sandwich Kent (still open today)
Roman Spoon fragment
Nice Roman Fittment (type I haven't seen)
1560 Elizabeth I Penny
Commonwealth Halfgroat:icon_thumright:

An unexpectedly good day from this sparse field.

Awesome! I want to come there! lol Passed through Gatwick a couple of times headed to Dubai but that was as close as I could get. I really enjoy the old history from there and would love to hold a piece of it in my hand. Maybe someday. HH

The soil is more sandy/gravel in this area, & the coins do hold up a little better, than our usual heavy clay.

No its got the 'II' over shields. I wish it was a shilling, this is the highest commonwealth type I find. Might be our 5th, and a couple of Pennies.

If it were a half crown, the two would be over the left sheild, yours looks to be over the right sheild, which would make it a shilling.:icon_thumleft:
You would have the VI over the right sheild on a half crown.

I see the confusion, I have corrected now, I meant halfgroat but wrote halfcrown:tongue3:

I did wonder about the dot, and size :laughing7:
wish I could just find one, any one. :laughing7:

We are kinda prime country for them, that's why I have fingers crossed for a largie, but I guess a few made there way up North. But I have no idea how many do get found up there:icon_scratch:

I have seen them, but not many and usually the half groat, it's a bit like you finding a Northumbrian Styca...small chance, but a chance.:icon_thumleft:

Thanks for all the comments from everyone above, I'm off to dream about whatever might be thrown up next.
