This is why I wear a Video Camera! Brass Belt Plate

Both pictures are of the same item, one with a flash and one without. I found this while detecting an old house that sits close to a military road that goes to Fort Leavenworth, KS. It was about 10" deep and is in perfect condition. I don't know much about it yet but I believe it to be a Regulation 1851 Union Sword Belt Plate (please correct me if I am wrong).

Thanks everyone for all the great comments. This is probably one of my best finds ever. It is also the only thing worth posting I have found in months, I hope my dry spell is over now.

I have been wearing the video camera while detecting now for about 6 months and it was finally worth it. I have taken close to 1000 videos and have deleted most of them due to the target being trash. This was really a 1 in 1000 find and I am glad I got it on video. I am sure I would have had a hard time convincing people that I dug it without the video.

That is an AWSOME find! I can't believe how easy that video makes it look. It came out of the ground in very good condition also. If it weren't for the video I wouldn't have thought you dug it.

That's a great find.

But I gotta ask, why are you filming with a fisheye lens?

The camera I use you don't have a choice on lenses and for what I use it for it works great.
