Whitetails, Honeybee's, and King George II
Went out yesterday morning for a few hours with my cousin Matt and Deepsecrets. Had a lot of fun, saw some deer walking through the field in to the thicket, snaked my way through the thorns and got to a side of the property that i have not been before. I saw a tall old tree so i headed over that way, walked around on the east side of the tree and got a jumpy but good signal 4"-6" down, dug it and out popped a copper coin. I took a picture before i cleaned it off, then saw the outline of KGII, my second one this year and 4th copper for the year. Its to worn to read a date but still 1700's. After i get it clean i took my headphones off and hear all this buzzing so i look up and there are hundreds of honeybees on the side of this tree, i have never seen a nest of honeybees before so i thought that was pretty cool. An hour or so goes by with nothing else but a little lead thing with "N & W" on the front and "BERA E" on the back i cant make out what it says. Any ideas would be great. I also found a condom lid that has price $1.00 on it, i found it by a old church that was a civil war hospital so at first i thought it was a medicine lid by the cross design, but i was told by Deepsecrets that it was just a condom lid. A big congrats to him for finding the first Bust off the property and the 4th large cent. Thanks for looking and HH.
Ryan.

Congrats on your second KGII! Someone probably wore that around their neck and rubbed that thing smooth! Hopefully DeepSecrets posts his finds soon we can all see his beautiful Capped Bust .5c half dime! Wish I woulda taken a picture of it...thing was SO tiny, even smaller than my half reale. I was amazed at the size and amazed again at the 5th silver being yet another different coin!

Neat finds! The honeybees will swarm this time of year. The queen emits a pheromone that attracts the others. They will pile on her & eventually start a hive. I've found them hanging from tree branches this way. The neat thing is, they are so focused on their swarm, they are almost completely harmless at this phase. We've cut the branch, swarm and all, and placed them gently into bee boxes before without a sting. No protective gear or anything. Looks like these guys have already chosen a good spot for a hive.

N&W almost certainly Norfolk and Western. Possible a luggage claim tag or a seal from a boxcar. The name on the back may be a inspector who placed the seal on something.

It was truely a privilege to have been invited to hunt with Ryan and Matt yesterday - what a beautiful piece of land! - and big area too, must have walked 3 miles around that place and boy do I feel it today I was fortunate to make a couple of great finds - as soon as I find my camera I will post photos. Although the half-dime and LC were cool, I was more excited to find a pretty gilt button (in the same hole as the half dime) as it had a clear identification on the back. I have sent an email to our local button expert in hopes he can date it. The mark was I&T Fassitt Rich Gilt if anyone here can shed some light I would be appreciative. Thanks again to Ryan and Matt -you guys are great and I have no doubt that there are many more super finds waiting for you on that property!

Your lead thingy with the N&W on it is a bail seal used to seal up bails of things back in the day (cotton or feed for live stock, etc.). Some people like to collect them.
Nice finds by the way, looks like you had a great day out there.
