hi folks :hello::hello: went out today on pasture with my trusty XP Deus got a ton of lead like normaly but this little find popped up it was really dirty and i didnt think much of it till i got home to give my finds a clean. when i washed it i notice there was numbers inside of it and letters out side of it and i was like WTF was this it looked old but i didnt have a clue untill i found out what it was on the internet :thumbsup: here is a little bit about it..

A post-medieval copper-alloy pocket sundial. On the exterior are incised measurement lines and the initial letter of each month, IFMAMI on one side, IASOND on the other. On the interior there are numbers representing the hours of the day. The suspension loop and inner slide are missing

On the outside there two rows of six engraved letters representing the twelve months of the year, divided by the slider track, above letters are I F M A M I and below I A S O N D. At this time there was no letter J in the alphabet.
On the inside of the dial there are a series of numbers divided by a thin line and a series of dots. One side of the line are the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8, whilst on the other side are the numbers 4 5 6 7 8 9 01 11, note the number 10 is shown as 01. Beneath the numbers 1 and 11 is the number 12 which is upside down and divided by the line and dots.

That's super cool, in great shape, very old, and I've never seen one before. Should be in a museum. I vote banner!

It wasn't what I expected to see when I clicked on this thrread...but yes I can say I don't recall sundials being posted many times in the last 4 years.

CONGRATS, on a rare find.

So how you likeing the duce ? any battery issues ? What is replacement cost ?

Thanks, Rick

The Deus hasnt got no battery issues mate you can get atleast 18 hours detecting before you have to charge it up again. havent got a clue what it costs to replace but you will have to wait around 4 years till you need to do that :)
