Hello all, It's been a bit since our last trip to the Privies! So here we go again. Treasure hunting ala dirt divers!!:skullflag:

Don and I secured permission to dig an area in town that involves around 11 vacant properties where homes once stood as far back as 1891 and most likely a bit earlier than that. So of course you always have high hopes to find a ton of goodies. Started out kinda slow with a few blob beers showing after 100+ years under ground. Not a bad start.

Then it was onto a corner lot that figured to be the oldest in the area. Started probing around and found 4 privies to do in a small area. Don nailed down a nice blob beer from Terre Haute Indiana. I of course got a few cryers in the way of cobalt quack medicines and a cobalt cone ink.:BangHead:

Oh well, on to bigger and better privies. Almost moved on to another part of another yard but I decided to poke around a few more areas near the "Cryer Hole." Low and behold we came across a freaking brick liner privy. These are fairly rare in these parts so needless to say I was pretty pumped up about it. Don thought it was a well at first but he soon found out it was shaped like a giant football. A clear sign of an older out house. Don pulled out a nice Cod Liver bottle and some other quack meds by the dozen. Then it was my turn at it...

I saw a familiar bird in the pit. A Eagle Flask that was laying right next to the brick wall:BangHead: Not a good sign as chances were slim that it survived the drop from above. But we got some good photos and I pulled it out to find the top was blasted by the wall as I figured, but the rest was in great shape. I kept it and shrugged off the bad mojo!:tongue3: But I soon found a broken Sanfords Radical Cure, cobalt of course and then a mini jug that had a hole in it. I gave up and let Don back in. He found a nice Stick Well, Co. Glue umbrella style bottle that is really nice. The pit ended up being about 7 feet deep and sure was a blast doing. There are still more pits to be had out there and we have all summer to knock em out. I hope to get back soon and pull some more glass from below the surface!!:icon_thumleft: Good luck out there and as always be safe ... jgas

Excellent photos of some excellent bottles!!!!!!!! I always wanted to dig a Pike's Peak. I had an old friend of mine that dug one in a civil war trash pit. Good post. Tennessee digger
