Regarding the Spanish insignia fragment. I'm sure you've seen this site. Perhaps an inquiry directed to
Professor John T. Powell, curator of this website & expert on Spanish Colonial Military accoutrements particularly
as used in the southeastern U.S.

UPDATE: The Spanish piece in the post above is most likely a Military Sword Guard. It will be appearing in American Digger Magazine's "Just Dug" in the coming issues, in a grouping with the 11 Spanish Silvers we recovered from that field this spring.

I made the banner years ago with finding 2 Henry Clay buttons (in one day) out here in Manitoba. The post is gone with my old account and that's why you couldn't find any others in your search.
