No it's not Colonal or Civil War, but it is a first for me. I have dug plenty of flat irons - in bottle dumps, colonial sites and civil war camps. BUT....this is the first Flat Iron Trivet that I have ever found. It was just below the leaves in mountain area along the Lincoln Highway (Route 30) that was a camping and picnic area in the early days of automobiles. My theory is that it was used to heat a coffee cup or can of beans over someones campfire about 1920 or so. I found a 1912 V nickel nearby.

That is a fancy iron trivet. I have not dug one of those yet. I love hitting the sites that have already been cleaned out and the iron artifacts left behind, its like Christmas. Arty

Very cool recovery Steve. Wouldn't you like to know who left that there?? There are good relics beside gold, silver, and brass to be found with a detector. HH, Quindy.

Cool relic, did ya check to see if the "V" was a "D or S" mint-mark?
