Looks like a 1R to me, not a 1/2 R. Diameter of 1/2 R is 18mm; diameter of 1R is 20. Also coin legend appears to read 1R.
Coin is certainly Spanish, but may not be from Spain; certainly not Mexico which would have assayer 'FF', not "MI". Unfortunately, I can't read the mintmark.

With the better pics, the assayer now might be read as "MJ". As such, "MJ" was the assayer at the Lima, Peru mint in 1779 when 1R coins were produced.

I believe the mint mark is NR -- the mint is Bogota.
The NR stands for 'nuevo reino' (New Kingdom) as the area was once called.
Much better pics, thx.

awesome find, looks to be a 1 real. I'm fairly certainly it's "real" and not "reale." If there was an "e" on the end, it'd then be pronounced -ree-al-ey, but it's a ree-al.
