Strip Mining Northern California, One Silver Coin at a time...
Well, It Was One of Those Days...:(
It happens to just about everyone at least once a year. You dig a ton of wheat pennies and get no silver! Today I dug 18 wheat pennies, a 1939 Jefferson nickel, and a buffalo nickel. That's hard to do without any silver coins..
at least I dug up enough clad to buy two gallons of gas!

That's not to bad! The other day all I found was four zinc pennies and some tinfoil. Better luck next time!

Is that the Park Presidio Strip? I've hunted a couple of sections of that and also come up empty on silver. At least you found a few oldies! Nice work!

I was thinking the same thing as Larry: looks like the grass strips leading north out of GGP. Although no one really "recreates" there now, I heard that years ago, those were the street-car stopping/waiting/loading/unloading zones. I've gotten silver from the ones along Dolores St, but never worked the ones north of GGP. The ratio should be about 8 or 9 wheaties to each silver. So *technically* you are owed two extra silver the next time you go

No, it's not the Presidio. It's a strip Iv'e been working on and off the last 6 months. So far I've taken 57 silver coins off of it, wheats are close to 200. total coins are around 1,600! About 7 pieces of silver jewelry.

That strip on Dolores was one awesome spot! I hit it hard in 1992 - 93. I remember trying to dug through that tough as nails bermuda grass, it was like steel wire! Found my share of goodies there. That strip north of Golden Gate Park is 19 Ave I believe. I've hunted strip that too, but never had much luck there. Mainly only a few wheaties and the usual clad.
