~1700's KG copper..Amazing SLQ Silver...From the Curb Strip~

Today I broke my slump in a BIG way. BadJim met me at 7am for some more curb strip hunting. We hit an old section of town. First curb....FIRST target was a 12-41 on my etrac...about 4" deep, a classic wheat penny signal.

But boy was I wrong! Cut the plug flipped it open and I saw big copper! Never in a million yrs did I dream I would EVER get a 1700's KG copper in my town.

I can't read the date, can someone narrow down the mintage years for this design for me? This is now my oldest coin ever, last year I dug a 1773 Virginia Half Penny....I believe this coin is older than that..hope I am right.

The very next house's curb, I get a shallow 12-46, 47 reading, which I assume is a clad quarter just under the grass....WRONG again! I stuck my digger in the ground and just pushed the dirt up and out came a silver quarter, what a shock, and it turned out being a beautiful 1929 SLQ, best one I have ever dug.

A lil while late I nabbed the silver rosie and 3 wheats......and a bunch of clad. Absolutely a great day, I am on cloud nine!

That's amazing to find a KG II in a curb strip. Maybe some fill dirt was brought in there from somewhere else. Yours looks like the "old head" variety which would place it between 1740 and 1754.

wow, amazing finds! That SLQ looks to have a Full Head, or nearly a full one.

The KG actually looks like 1749 to me

been hunting sidewalk easements for years! most overlooked
sites in the hobby! funny thing is,ya don't need an e-trac!
you can score big,save yourself a 'ton" of dough by buying your self a
"short money" detector with a small coil! it's all ya really need!

Sweet find! I know in my area there's a sod farm that covers a vast expanse of what would have been travelled by colonial people. I'm sure on occasion relics from the era get carted away in the sod.
