    * Triple Silver * Barber Half - Barber Quarter - Early Merc

My buddy Joel called mid afternoon and suggested we go knock on some doors.
I agreed to meet him in 30 minutes in a small town where he grew up.
By the time I got there, he had already secured permission at a site.

We drove a few blocks to the site and, wow, was I impressed!
A beautiful grand old home - built in the late 1830's and added on in the 1880's.
Stately trees and a huge front lawn greeted us as we pulled in.

He knew the folks and had just gotten permission to hunt there.
It has never been hunted before. (woot!)

Minutes into the hunt - WANG - I get my first decent signal.
An 1881 Indian Head. Not a bad way to start.

A few minutes later - WANG - a strong dime signal.
    Out pops a 1918 d Merc.

Later on -WANG - a super strong quarter signal at 4 1/2 inches.
    Absolutely beautiful shape.

    * Triple Silver * Barber Half - Barber Quarter - Early Merc-1909barberquarter.jpg

And my biggest WANG of the day...wait, let me rephrase.

Later on, I got a SUPER strong Half/Dollar signal only three inches deep.
I was fully prepared to dig a brass harness ring.
Nope, one of the few times that it was a coin, instead of a harness ring.

A dandy 1900 s Barber Half pops out of the hole.

    I could hardly believe it!

TWO firsts for me today - I've never dug a Barber Quarter or Half Dollar before.

Today was a good day, thanks to Joel.
I tried to return the favor, so we went to a VERY old home site in that same town - but
the rains came. Oh well, we'll save it for another day.

Speaking of Joel - he had a first himself. SIX Indian Head pennies lifted from just that front yard.

Going on a group hunt with the club tomorrow morning, but I'm afraid I used up all my luck TODAY!!!

    God's Blessings and HH,

Nice work on the coins, how far apart did you find them?
You gotta picture the coins falling out of their pockets.
