Hello guys and gals. I went out detecting this morning to hopefully dig some CW relics. Well I dug 2 bullets and what I think is a Finial. It is Lead and could be Confederate in nature. I'll show you guys the before pics and after I washed them off. It is old and is falling apart as speak. Just glad I could save a couple more. Thanks for looking and feel free to comment on the Finial find.

Not quite sure it's a finial. :( Nice bullets, though. :)

Cheers,

I'm not sure myself. The bottom is brass and rest is lead. Only thing I've seen like it is a finial of some sort.

Cartridge box/ cap box I'd say! Give it a few shots of hairspray to preserve it. That's a trick I was taught.

I agree, not sure it is a finial...the CS lead ones typically had a more blunt look to them. This is more the style of the tip off a bayonet scabbard, but again it looks like pewter. Something is off IMHO. Nice bullets btw!

Jamesbib and Dan. You know guys y'all might be right. The metal is crumbly. I don't remember finding a lead relic that crumbles when you touch it. Why do I always have to find the hard to ID relics.
