Change Purse Maybe?

Went out in the heat for a while today found a 1914 , 17 , 20 wheat pennies and $3.00 in clad and this thing my wife thinks is a change purse , what you think....

Ive seen a couple of purses on here made in that chainmail style...Ive never seen one with a top like yours...very cool.

fad in late 1800's early 1900's
alot were made of silver
some of german silver (which is like a clad material)
