I wonder if the owner lost it, or died with it. Hard to believe someone would just loose that much money.

All this is found in the wood a square 100 on 100 meters. The purse was from skin. All coins were in one purse. In the wood it is not far from the road soldiers of the French army burned down fires organizing camps. Trying though somehow to be warmed, as the temperature was-28. On buttons on which there are numbers it is possible to define that it here were German, Spanish, French soldiers being at war on Napoleon's party. Weakened, hungry many simply perished directly in the wood. On all territory of the wood I found numerous finds all of them there were not deeply cм 10-30 no more. The purse was on depth no more than 15 see. When I dug out a purse in the wood, from my joyful shout all animals and insects in radius of several kilometers ran up probably.)))) Excuse for mistakes.

Keep coming back to look at that eagle with some gilding still showing - I guess it looks to be be about 4 inches 10 cm high - the crown looks slightly different to the broken one next to it. A beautiful item with an amazing history. Nuggy
