Hello all, Really haven't had much time lately to detect but did get out yesterday afternoon to an old cellar hole nearby that looked promising.

Came up with this token that says (obverse) B. MALONEY --PROPRIETOR ---(reverse) -- NATIONAL --499 THIRD AVE. ---1863

Also found an 1868 2-cent piece, pretty good shape, my 4th this year.

Any thoughts/background/value on the token would be appreiciated.

HH all!

Greg

The B. Maloney 1863 token is a Civil War store card (Fuld #NY 630AU) from New York City, and is worth about $8-12 in Fine to Very Fine condition. The one shown below, graded Uncirculated, is currently listed at $30.

WOW. Those are in absolutely wonderful shape...I don't think anything up this way is ever in that good of shape unless someone dropped it fifteen minutes before it gets found. LOL
Really beautiful stuff.

That is awesome. And what condition it is in WOW. I enjoy the token finds here on Tnet. There are so many that I have never seen before. And for it age and make that has got to be one of the best I have seen in those catagories during the last half year.

Congratulations,

Wow, those are some awesome finds. I found an 1863 Civil War Token this year. Never even knew they existed. Apparently there was a currency shortage so a lot of merchants made their own.

Four 2 cent coins - very nice. Your one pictured looks very sweet.

Thank you for this thread.
Even though it's old, it helped me to identify a token I dug up last night. It's identical to yours; the Civil war store token from NYC.
