Found military button!

Found a military button today. Not sure when or what type it is. Maybe someone can help identify it? On the back there is no writing and it doesn't have a typical loop for thread, rather it has what looks like a screw on type. Any ideas?

but if you count the stars. It comes up to 13 stars 6 in shield and 7 under....hummmm

Could the back of the button possibly be to snap it into another piece?

There is an eagle over top of the shield. The back looks like it could screw on to a pin or maybe snap on.
