Is the dirt original, or brought in from somewhere else when it was built?
"A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything." — Friedrich Nietzsche
"You ask where I live. I cannot tell you. I am a Voyageur, a Chicot, sir. I live everywhere. My grandfather was a voyageur; he died while on a voyage. My father was a voyageur; he died while on a voyage. I will also die while en route, and another Chicot will take my place. Such is our course of life."

Shame those beaches are illegal to detect, all the trash and pulltabs forever to be there.
Nice silver haul!

While I was hunting a 80 year old lady came by to chat. She remembered this entire area when she was a child being nothing but sand dunes back in the 1930's. Thousands of houses were built in the 1940's and dirt was brought in. The median strip does have a sandy mixture to it. The age of the silver coins completely agree with the history of the area. The amount of toys (cap guns, older tootsie toys) being found also shows it was a cool play area for the kids back in the 40's through today.

There use to be a nude beach close to the South side of the bridge. It is probably off limits to MD also, but if you could find the area where the Nudist dressed and undressed you may find some pocket spills.

Nice post. yup, SF, despite being such a big city of seemingly endless asphalt, doesn't seem to lack for green-belts, parks, medians, and odd-ball places to detect.
