2006 Ohio Finds aka "The Silver Mine"

Here are some highlights of my digs for this season.
All were found with a DFX and standard coil.
All were found on the same property outside of Cleveland, Ohio
The Morgan..and 41 Walking and 3 quarters were found in a piece of leather along with a old rusty zipper.. I would think it was once a wallet.

Re: 2006 Ohio Finds aka "The Silver Mine"

Do you know why there is so much silver on that piece of land?

Yes...They had alot of visitors (thousands each year) on the land from 1899 to today.
I can date the place to 1930 when it bacame private, but was used way before that.
The land is still used today, So current clad is always at foot. I have to clean $70.00 in clad quarters alone this winter.

I have to agree with everyone on here, those are some sweet finds. As the saying goes,
Ohio Has It All! I've been all over the U.S. and I still like to hunt the best right here in good ole Ohio.

Thanks for the posts and the pictures, keep us informed on any new finds you get and keep those pictures coming.

I added "The Silver Mine" to the title to mark my spot...

We have so far...

"The Button Spot"
"Iceberg"
"The Silver Mine"

Any others I missed????

ZoSo71

You missed the Shark Pit - an old Pier/dock that had a lot of activity on the Chesapeake Bay. That place has given up tons of great stuff. The pit is closed for the season but will open up next spring.

So is the Silver Mine still outputting silver?

Re: 2006 Ohio Finds aka "The Silver Mine"

the ring in the pic with the quarters looks like a coin ring?

Yep.. A 1956 Quarter Ring.. Someone did a great job on it..All the rim writing is turned perfect.
I thought it was a normal ring..Till I cleaned it with baking soda...
Found it the woods with a bunch of wheats scattered around it.
