Before the heat chased me yesterday, got a bit of clad, a wheatie, an old box that might've been a jewelry box (and a very pretty one in it's day I bet), and this buckle looking thingy.

It reads "Gladys Glad Pure Rouge - Gladys Glad Inc. 5th Avenue NY"

The jewelry box looks like it was pretty ornate.

For those who are good at research, this might help figure out what it used to look like.

Now, this buckle looking thing has me puzzled. This is the front view.

From the back.

This starts my puzzle. The back is hinged.

So, it has a little secret compartment?

Thanks for peeking.

That looks like a make up thing not a buckle. But hey I don't know.

I sure don't know either, but it did appear to have some remnants of what looked like cloth around the open end. (shrug)

Works for me. Thanks for the info!

The box was a surprise find. It was buried pretty deep and under a thick root. Too bad it wasn't whole.
