11.06.06 back to the front yard again (1893 IH & wedding band))

After yesterday's digs that landed me 5 wheaties all from the 1940's and a 1941 Walker Half dollar I couldn't wait to get back there after work today. Had an hour or so before dark and picked up three more wheaties from the 1940's again and more memorial cents. I also dug a cheap ring, think it's cheap... the metal band is peeling off, missing one stone.
Seems like all of the sudden it was getting dark quick. So I hopped out to the back yard real quick just to see if anything popped up. I could see my screen on the detector reading "penny, 4 inches" and almost didn't dig it, trying to find a penny in the dark dirt isn't easy so figured I'd wait til tomorrow again. At this place all the memorial cents all from the 1970's, have been around 3-4 inches deep.

Glad I decided to dig this one! A beauty of a 1893 Indian Head Cent with four super nice diamonds! Pic doesn't show them well though.

Can't wait til tomorrow after work!

UPDATE: the ring isn't too cheap, reads 18k, real diamonds? Is it gold plated then? Why is it peeling off?

I'm just realizing that the band says 18k in side, has the letters T.H.G.E with a jewelers marking. The ring is flaking though and I just rubbed some of it off so the T.H. isn't there anymore.

Nice finds. Love them IH's. Sounds like you have a pretty good older yard there. Who knows what else you might find there?

DIU:

I'd be thrilled with any one of your finds. Way to go, dude!

I've got to show my ignorance here. What are the diamonds on the IH penny? I've found only one, in my wifes change, so although I love them, I'm pretty clueless as to what makes a special one more special.

Here's hoping to dig one some day.....

Real nice Indian head penny, when you can read the head band, it is a really special find. like the ring too, hey a ring is a ring. My partner found a ring today that looked as green as your Indian Head and he could just make out 18K in it, and he was happy as heck with it. He would have went crazy with a ring like yours.

Nice finds! Didn't know about the diamonds on the IH, I'll have to check the one I was fortunate to find here in Germany, an 1864. Good luck with the rest of that yard and HH, Mike
