I got out early this morning and hunted with my friend from Tahoe . He is in town for the week working so we thought we would hunt some older schools today . The first school had a ton of clad but not much more . We moved to a little school that dated from the 1940's . When we pulled up we saw half the field had just be scraped ! The first this I found was a 1949 Jefferson nickel and a junk ring . After about an hour and no silver or wheats I got a solid +37 at three inches . I was happy to see a nice piece of gold come out of the hole . It tested at 14K and weighs 4.8 grams . Looks to be old gold .
The only wheat I found was on the surface and is in great condition , 1958D . The other ring was found last night at a local school . it's just plated . Total clad from today was $11.47 for three hours .
The U.S. flag pin was found at the first school ! Happy 4th everyone !
