Dug a six pound solid shot Confederate cannonball!!!
Hello everyone, It's been awhile since I've posted anything on here. I have been hunting a virgin Union Civil War camp, and have found a lot of stuff. I was hunting the out skirts of the camp, when I started digging artillery shell fragments, I found out from a local historian that the frags were Confederate, they are from a local battle. I went back out there Saturday to find more of these frags and dug a real nice six pound solid shot! This is my third cannonball, it's the one in the middle on the display picture!
Thanks for lookin!

Come out from under your bed today...... DO SOMETHING!
Nice... very nice! There is a 6 pounder stuck in a cemented foundation in Halifax, NC. Or at least it still was in '94. Corwalis' troops got ambushed in Halifax, NC on his way to surrender. Word had not gotten to Halifax, yet, that the war was over. Cornwalis "whupped" on the locals! If my memory serves me ( from the '90s) the old roadbed is still visible just west of 125.... going through a farm field. Halifax also had a field back in the '90s that still had debri from building "ironclads" during the Civil War TTC

Boy don't you know that think went thunk when it hit. I have solid shot that was skipped through troops or used as siege balls. You are getting a very nice collection. Nice looking hole and frags that fit together. Congrats on a really cool find. We are talking cannon ball!!

It's a solid shot, so it's not explosive.
