I have had a great couple of days! 2 gold rings. One small 10k w/2 very small diamonds and the big mama. It says 10k. It has over 15 small round diamonds (tester says they are real). Comes up on detector as gold/nickel. Will not attract magnet. it's weird though.....gold everywhere but inside where the setting are looks like white gold (see pic). Do any of you recognize the hallmark? thanks! This year I have found over 47 rings. Going for 100! wish me luck.

it is usually rhodium plated or white gold around the diamonds to add to the brillance and not have yellow diamonds

thanks so much. I have never seen that before. I was thinking it was gold plated silver; however, it was definitely coming up on the gold/nickel setting. I was also thinking, with that many diamonds, why would they put it in a 10k instead of 14k ring???

yes gunntekk is correct, it is rhodium plating to help those stones sparkle

they put them in 10k to keep the price down, those diamonds are not the best

Beautiful ring, they used 10k because 10k is stronger than 14k, the more gold you have, the softer it is, also to keep costs down. I have a 22k gold ring that I don't wear often because I don't want to lose or damage it, it's one Chug found. Red

CONGRATS! :hello2: A very pretty ring. I've also heard of mountings being done in platinum...I suppose to enhance diamond brilliance.
