Jagdgeschwader 27 Afrika was a World War II Luftwaffe Geschwader. It was most famous for service in the North African Campaign, supporting the Deutsches Afrikakorps. Heinrich Steis is credited with downing 21 aircraft, including B-24s, a B-17, Spitfires and other aircraft. Here’s his complete history: Heinrich Steis - Pilot Profile - Heinrich Steis

It would be way cool as next of kin to receive one of those in the mail. Sure to go in a shadow box.

Lloyd E. Kile came from Sumner County, Kansas

The point I'm making here is that a lot of information is available BUT it takes time, patience and research digging, espeically when dealing with any government agency while attempting to get more than 'surface' information. For example, one agency electronically scheduled a 'call back' for one week after I called them !!
Other sources include American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts near where these heroes enlisted or lived.

PS: I have a call into Fairview Cemetery in New Britain, Connecticut (860-826-3495). When I get their response (I'm seeking next of kin info), I'll post it.
PPS: Cemetary called; said the 'lady in charge' is on vacation and no info is available until her return on the 27th. Patience is required. Another source would be the New Britain newspaper obituary of this soldier; it might list the next of kin.
