Just found this, this is an area me and a friend found pillar dollars(3).

I'm curious what type of site you were at and what state? Finding three 8 reales and a 4 reale at the same place is very unusual unless you are on a shipwreck or there was disturbed cache or coin spill.

The only 4 reales I've ever dug was an 8 reales cut in half - see my avatar 8-)

Found it in NJ. That's what me and a friend are wandering. My thinking is they were dredged up from the river, deposited along the bank were erosion washed it out. My friend thinks they were buried under the dredging and erosion or bulldoze out from an old road.
Seam we are onto something though. They were deposited in a 30 yard area. Cache?? Coin spill?? The area was settled back in the 1600.
