I kid you not...yet another Draped Bust find on ole T-Net! This must be her time of the year to come out of hibernation or something and I am very thankful for that! I got off work early today and my cousin and I headed to our spot. There's a huge field right next to a church that was established in 1810 and was also used as a hospital during the civil war.

Anywho, I collected 2 flat buttons about 30 minutes into the hunt and I was digging about (what seemed like a million nails) in between. Then my third good signal came up and I dug the plug and it's still in the hole and I take my lesche and pop it out of the hole on top of the ground next to the hole. Didn't even notice it though until I looked up and saw it beside the hole. lol At first glance after a little rubbing it looked like a Liberty Cap large cent. After getting it home and doing a little q-tip cleaning, I discovered it was an 1803 Draped Bust large cent. JUST last friday I found my oldest large cent which was a 1817...who knew a week later I would beat that by 14 years!! You gotta love this hobby! After that I found 2 more flat buttons and a suspender clip or buckle of some sort. Not too sure really. It was another great day of hunting and this property just keeps on giving! Thanks for looking guys and happy hunting.

Video of today's finds.

Nice looking DB LC Matt! I love digging sites that are giving up those early flat buttons and Large Cents. Those are the kinds of places that give up State coopers, Spanish silver, early one piece military buttons.....and every once in a great while.....Draped Bust silver!!

Exactly!! Just the other day I responded in your Draped Bust Dime thread and said I really wanna find a capped bust or draped bust next. It didn't end up being a silver, but I still got my draped bust. Pretty funny how things work out sometimes! HH!

Way to go on finding the oldest large cent off the property! Two large cents in one weeks time is awesome, hope we can keep that streak going through the fall and winter. Im hoping i can pull a old coin out soon with the AT Pro.

Beautiful coin.

I always liked seeing the 1\100th fraction on those coins, (in the pictures anyways).

Great looking coin! And nice buttons, too! Congrats! :hello2: Its a shame that knife blade had to be rusted away, good ones are always keepers in my book...

From the looks of those finds, you just might get a few more goodies before you are done at that site!

That knife looking thing in your trash photo is pretty cool too and looks quite old. It might display well if cleaned up a bit. Great finds!!

Just watched the video. It turned out pretty cool! I was looking at my 2012 coin book for the large cents and there is a rare variety worth a lot of money. Its a large date ( pointy 1), and small fraction ( blunt 1). Yours is the large date but i cant tell about the fraction if its a small or large 1. Would be awesome if it was the rare type!

Would be very awesome! I wouldn't sell it, but it would still be cool to know I found a rare coin.

BEAUTIFUL COIN! Also I loved your video, music, and was delighted that you'd found a coin even better than what you'd guessed!

I lived in Henrico county for 20 years and Albemarle county for another 20 years before heading west. My son and I now live in CA but my daughter and grandsons are in Virginia. Next time son & I visit the boys, we'll be detecting Virginia with them. They enjoyed a little beach detecting with us in CA a couple years ago but don't have a detector at home. HH Andi
