Years ago, I dug a full can of beer at the beach and while digging on my knees I struck it with my digging tool. Ended up getting a hot beer shower to the face. Oh, I can laugh about it now but wasn't real happy at the time. I like my beer at the beach ice cold.

It can be nasty, but sometimes it can be a pleasant surprise. Sorry yours was no fun--it looks like it probably took a lot of work too.

All the best,

Lanny

This is why I DO. Both came in jumpy iron signals!

I do understand. When I get into one of those big iron digs that for some reason I still do. I am always grumbling at myself that this is NOT why I'm out here! :( I didn't come out to dig the biggest piece of iron in the history of MD's. ;)

BUT, I must confess that after I got that big ole piece of iron out and then checked the area again, I have found decent items. Sometimes.

Think about it, most of the time, that piece of ground is virgin territory. All the others have heard the large whoop, cursed, said too big, or beer can, then moved on. The ground under the iron has never seen a MD. :)

My sympathies. But, something to think about. ;)

HH!

My upgrade choice is an AT Pro, actually. The waterproof aspect really appeals to me.

Got one of those in my back yard, gave up on it when I got the hole 14" long, it's a good 12" deep too but it does not hit on the MXT as iron:icon_scratch:, it hits as a quarter but I'm sure it is iron so?

I hunt vacant lots where houses have been torn down and I get a lot of iron pipe. You have to dig it though, because you never know what under it or next to it. I've also seen what at first seemed like a plain old pipe turn out to be an old shotgun barrel....

I don't think that sucker would fit in my pouch! Dang you must have been digging for a while and that thing must be rather heavy especially filled with dirt. Hope you didn't have to carry very far. Keep digging

I forget the amount of times I dig iron in the same hole as a keeper. The one that sticks in my head is when I dug what I knew was going to be a large horseshoe & right next to it Dad dug a gold coin. If we had left that signal = no gold coin.
