Let's set the mood, it was 10 PM, the moon was nearly full but I still needed to wear my head lamp. I was in a wooded area hunting an abandoned old church, the wind was rustling the leaves and I could hear coytoes in the distance. I was hunting around a large oak tree when I got an 82 on the AT Pro. but it was a little scratchy but I dug anyway expecting a copper fitting or piece of pipe and out popped a round object. Looking in the light of my lamp I thought I had a crotal bell but I all most freaked when I turned it over. I think I found a new avitar:laughing7:
Happy hunting and Happy Halloween month,
:o:o:oZDD

Great tale to go with that find! Hehe, closest I came to that was digging a few animal teeth and finding a small lead skull with plastic gems for eyes. Lol, thought it was some kind of large bearing till I turned it over.

Lots of great humor on this site, I love it. But seriously folks this hunt really gave a new meaning to "eyeballing a find".:laughing7:

That's cool...is it one of those that would open and close by pivoting like a doll's eye?

peace,
CC
Yes, it still rolls up as you pivot it. It is mounted in a brass housing.
ZDD
