I think it's a token for a newspaper's early edition. Check the town where found for a newspaper with "Record" in its name.

The Greensboro, NC Daily Record is the only newspaper I can find that has Record in its name and had a "Pink Edition" - this was ca. May-June 1925. The Pink Edition, they said, was printed after all the baseball major league games ended, so the scores could be included. The regular price of the Record at the time was 5¢ and I suppose the Pink Edition just had sports, so it was 2¢. Yes, the token was probably given to potential subscribers hoping they would plunk down their money for the season. Value? I don't know. Not a huge value, that is for sure. I will contact the NC token cataloger to see what he thinks.
